Kingston City Council minutes - page 234 or page 27/38 has a motion in support of keeping the prison farms open passed by Council on March 24, 2009.  The Cataraqui Regional Conservation Authority recently passed a stronger motion calling for the farms to remain open.

The NFU and the cattlemens association achieve a significant step towards saving the prison farms when CSC agreed to allow the abattoir at the Pittsburgh Institution to operate indefinitely with 5 months notice possibe changes in status.
